Welcoming Our First Investors from Canada

February 14, 2025 · Investment

A milestone for AfriCan: our first cohort of Canadian investors has formally joined the vision. Their commitment brings not just capital, but cross-continental expertise and market access that no seed fund alone could provide.

Who Joined

Our founding investor cohort comprises three individuals from the Canadian diaspora — each with deep roots in either agriculture, commodity trading, or African development finance. Out of respect for their privacy, we are not publishing names at this stage, but a full investor prospectus is available to verified prospects upon request.

What Their Investment Enables

The combined seed capital from this round funds:

  • Full Phase 1 infrastructure (solar irrigation, fencing, piggery rehabilitation)
  • Working capital for the first two planting cycles
  • Partial advance on the smart camera network for 24/7 farm security
  • Legal and compliance costs for the AfriCan import-export entity registration in Canada

What Canada Brings Beyond Capital

The Canada connection is strategic, not incidental. Our investors bring:

  • Cold-chain logistics contacts for blueberry export
  • Restaurant and grocery buyer relationships in Ontario and BC
  • Experience navigating CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) import requirements

How to Join Them

We are still accepting expressions of interest from aligned investors — particularly those who see the Zimbabwe–Canada food corridor as an underserved opportunity. Minimum commitment starts at CAD 5,000 for the community tier.

AfriCan is more than a farm. It's a bridge. Thank you to everyone who is helping us build it.
